The Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care (“School”) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong is a leading institution in the Asia-Pacific region, committed to excellence in research and education in public health and primary care, with strong international collaborations.
We are seeking a high-calibre candidate for appointment as Assistant Professor (Non-clinical) at the Centre for Health Systems and Policy Research (“Centre”) under the School. The successful candidate will contribute to advancing research and teaching in health systems and policy, particularly in areas including but not limited to:
- Health systems strengthening and policy development for universal health coverage
- Primary care organisation and people-centred integrated service delivery
- Health financing and resource allocation
- Health equity and inequalities in healthcare
- Policies and intervention for challenges of ageing populations and chronic disease
Applicants should have:
(i) A doctoral degree in public health, health policy, health services research, primary care, social science, or a related discipline;
(ii) Established postdoctoral research experience with a strong publication record in international peer-reviewed journals;
(iii) Demonstrated ability to develop independent research and secure or show strong potential to secure competitive external funding;
(iv) Experience in teaching and supervising undergraduate and/or postgraduate students;
(v) Proven ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary and international research; and
(vi) Strong sense of responsibility, integrity, initiative, and able to work as teams.
The appointee will be responsible for:
(a) Developing and leading independent and collaborative research programmes;
(b) Applying for competitive external research funding;
(c) Teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and supervising students and research staff;
(d) Contributing to curriculum development and programme coordination;
(e) Engaging in knowledge transfer and policy engagement; and
(f) Undertaking administrative and service duties within the School and Centre.
Appointment
Appointment will be made on a contract basis for up to two years initially, commencing as soon as possible. The appointment may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation, subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement.

The Centre for Health Systems and Policy Research conducts high-impact research to inform policy and practice in Hong Kong, the region, and globally. It focuses on strengthening health systems through health policy, system and services research, with strong links to government, international bodies, and academic partners.
