Salary: £54,556 inclusive of Local Weighting Allowance of £1,096
Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

Slough Borough Council is seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Public Health Lead – Health Intelligence and Insight to lead the delivery of insight-driven public health strategy, intelligence programmes (including the JSNA), and high-quality analytical outputs to inform local decision-making and improve health outcomes.
Job Overview:
We’re looking for an experienced and dynamic public health leader to join Slough Borough Council as our Public Health Lead – Health Intelligence and Insight. This senior post sits at the heart of our evidence-informed public health system, playing a key role in driving forward intelligence-led decision making, reducing health inequalities, and shaping strategic priorities across Slough and our wider partnerships. With direct line management responsibility and influence across the health and care system, this is a critical leadership role that combines advanced analytical skills with cross-sector collaboration and public health expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the operational delivery of health intelligence programmes such as the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) and transformation of public health intelligence products
- Provide high-level statistical insight, analysis, and interpretation to inform commissioning, strategy, and policy across Slough Borough Council and its partners
- Develop and maintain operational procedures for data collection, management, analysis, and visualisation, ensuring data quality, consistency, and governance
- Present complex statistical and epidemiological information to both technical and non-specialist audiences, ensuring insights inform action
- Oversee delivery of statutory needs assessments and monitor performance of commissioned public health services
- Act as the senior technical advisor on population health data, providing training, mentoring and support to staff and partners
- Work with senior leaders and elected members across the Council and the NHS to support strategic planning, policy formulation, and programme deliver
- Contribute to the development and implementation of digital public health tools and performance dashboards (e.g., Power BI, GIS)
- Manage, coordinate, and supervise analysts and officers working on health intelligence within the Public Health team

Annual increments, where applicable, are usually payable on 1st April each year, subject to six months service in the post, until the maximum spinal column point of the level has been reached. The payment of annual increments is not automatic and is subject to satisfactory performance as assessed by your Director.
Alongside a competitive salary, we provide:
- 26 days annual leave (not including Bank holidays), rising to 30 days between 2 - 5 years’ service and 33 days after 5 years’ service.
